Hercules High Detail 16K Art Print
Hercules (Heracles) - A Brief Life Summary
Hercules, known as Heracles in Greek mythology, was a divine hero and the most famous champion of the Greeks.
Birth and Lineage: He was the demigod son of Zeus (King of the Gods) and Alcmene (a mortal woman).
Hera's Wrath: Zeus's jealous wife, the goddess Hera, hated Hercules from birth and relentlessly tormented him throughout his life. She even sent two snakes to his cradle, which the infant Hercules famously strangled.
The 12 Labors: In a fit of madness sent by Hera, Hercules killed his wife and children. To atone for this sin, he was required to serve King Eurystheus and perform ten (later twelve) seemingly impossible tasks, known as the Twelve Labors of Hercules. These tasks included slaying the Nemean Lion and the Lernaean Hydra.
Later Life: After completing the labors, he had many other adventures and marriages. His second wife, Deianira, accidentally poisoned him with a centaur's blood, believing it to be a love potion.
Death and Apotheosis: Dying in agony, he had himself placed on a pyre. Upon his death, his mortal half perished, but his divine essence ascended to Mount Olympus, where he was accepted as a god by the Olympians, finally achieving immortality and reconciling with Hera.
Symbolism: He is the ultimate symbol of strength, endurance, and heroism.
